Acquire the skills to financially support yourself as a visual artist or entrepreneur in art and related design fields with 51¶¯Âþ’s Undergraduate Certificate in Creative Entrepreneurship. This 12-credit certificate is a collaboration between the and the and designed for students looking to turn their creative practice into a viable business enterprise. TheÌýcertificate program teaches entrepreneurship and basic business acumen through a blend of coursework and optional internships offered through both the Fox and Tyler schools.

Participate in a social impact or new venture internship as well as a field internship that provides hands-on learning and practical experience in a setting relevant to your course of study.ÌýLearn the necessary skills to make a living as an artist including

  • how to launch your freelancing business or a startup company,
  • using trials and testsÌýon your way to success,
  • seeking investors and funding, and
  • strategic management and business plans, among other topics.

The certificate is available for alumni, continuing ed/nonmatriculating students, and students in other Tyler and non-Tyler degree programs, except for the BFA with entrepreneurship degree programs.

Coursework for the Certificate in Creative Entrepreneurship focuses on developing the knowledge and skills to turn creative passion into a successful business enterprise. Students learn the skills they need to succeed as working artists through a mix of coursework, field internships and study abroad opportunities.

Students meet with these inspiring individuals through lectures, studio visits, demonstrations and more—including major speaker programs such as the Jack Wolgin Visiting Artist and Lecturer, the Laurie Wagman Visiting Artist and Artist-in-residence Series in Glass, and the Marjorie Margolies Visiting Artist Program in Painting.Ìý.
