Professional Health Education Graduate Certificate Program

The Professional Health Education Graduate Certificatein the at 51¶¯Âþ prepares students with the skills needed as an educator in professional health education programs, including programs such as dentistry, medicine, pharmacyÌýand science. This 12-credit program is designed for healthcare professionalsÌýwho are seeking expertise in teaching and learning theories and case-based instruction methods. The Professional Health EducationÌýGraduate CertficateÌýprogram was created in conjunction with faculty and administrators from the Katz School of Medicine, the Kornberg School of Dentistry, and the College of Education and Human Development.

Through the graduate certificate program, you’llÌýdevelop critical decision-making and problem-solving skills through collaboration and networking with other leaders in the industry. Learn to apply evidence-based healthcare principles, effective coaching techniques and group facilitation to a diverse population, and develop teaching plans that can be applied to all students.Ìý

Program Outcomes

Classes are taught by faculty experts from a rotation of health professional schools to ensure the most medically applicable curriculum. Learning outcomes are based on your field of study and include the following.

  • Applying evidence-based healthcare principles to teaching future professionals.
  • Designing, presentingÌýand assessing case-based instructional modules.Ìý
  • Implementing adult learning theories in both the didactic and clinical.

Program Format & Curriculum

All Professional Health Education Graduate Certificate coursework will take place online or as in-person coursesÌýat the 51¶¯Âþ Center City campus. The certificate should take a minimum of one academic year to complete and students have up to six years to complete the program.

In keeping with 51¶¯Âþ’s commitment to access and affordability, this Graduate CertificateÌýoffers a competitive level of tuition with multiple opportunities for financial support.

Tuition rates are set annually by the university and are affected by multiple factors, including program degree level (undergraduate or graduate), course load (full- or part-time), in-state or out-of-state residency, and more. These tuition costs apply to the 2024–2025 academic year.

Pennsylvania resident: $1,105.00 per credit
Out-of-state: $1,518.00 per credit
