Teaching in Higher Education Certificate

The Teaching in Higher Education Certificate program provides students with experience using research-based teaching methods to promote student achievement, development and learning. Students develop a learning-centered, purposeful and reflective approach to teaching, and learn to create enhanced syllabi and engaging classroom activities.

The Teaching in Higher Education certificate program welcomes current faculty members interested in enriching their teaching practices, as well as high school teachers or other professionals who aim to teach in higher education.

Delivery Method

You may complete the six-credit certificate entirely online on a part-time basis. Though you won’t take classes on campus, you’ll complete your online coursework and projects in groups with classmates.

Tuition & Fees

In keeping with 51¶¯Âþ’s commitment to access and affordability, this Graduate CertificateÌýoffers a competitive level of tuition with multiple opportunities for financial support.

Tuition rates are set annually by the university and are affected by multiple factors, including program degree level (undergraduate or graduate), course load (full- or part-time), in-state or out-of-state residency, and more. These tuition costs apply to the 2024–2025 academic year.

Pennsylvania resident: $1,105.00 per credit
Out-of-state: $1,518.00 per credit
